This is a huge job, but I think it's worth it! We are doing the same thing! First, you remove all the old carpet. I suggest using a dust mask when I do, especially if you are allergic person. You must remove the strap holding the carpet to the low and possibly scratch the old disk. They are usually not glued, but have the annoying habit of staying on the ground. I found a boat steam and a putty knife blade wider with patches stuck. Now the hard work, sanding the floor. Some people prefer have a professional take over now. If you want the floor to the air again and really sweet, you need a professional. Our home is more 100 years and is hardy in nature, so I do not want super smooth floors looking new. Sand, vacuum, let the dust settle overnight and wipe the floor with a mop or a microfiber cloth to get as much dust as possible. Even running an air filter in the region will help! There are many options when it refers to finish well. We prefer the aged appearance, the brightness of the lower oil prices ends, but are slightly fragrant. But a finish Oil-based is easier to repair if you need anything that is poly base. Care after it becomes much easier, a good scan on a regular basis and maintain a residual moisture that looks good. With oil-based finishes, you may need to implement a new top coat and a few years.
