"I can put wood on the carpet?

I have carpet in my room and my computer is in my room. I have these and theres Rolly Chair is covered under plastic square rolling. With the carpet where I feel like there are students in the plastic and if you circle around the chair run again in the teeth. So I wondered. I can make a kind of wood (probably maple) square the size of this thing in plastic. I thought a inch thick can be sufficient. Then the thing will just wood panels above the belt and a wrong step, one inch of wood carpet? If Er not, why not?
