damp carpet – and now? Help!?

We arrived home after a week's vacation to find that the roof had leaked during an episode of heavy rain, leaving about 2 x 2 wetlands in our dining Room Carpet. The carpet is all about 10 x 8 is not only a vestige padding-bottom. If we just take the entire carpet and get rid of him? Or is there a way to dry the carpet and be able to keep? What is the best solution to this problem? It's already starting to feel a little. Help please!

Clear the area with a wet / dry. Then run a fan blowing in the area until dry. That should be enough to save the carpet.
